As part of National Cyber Security Awareness Month, the UH Division of Research and University Information Technology invite you to attend "Who is Stealing Your Research?: FBI Special Agents' Strategies for Protecting Research Information", a lecture presented by two Special Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Special Agent Bret W. Davis is a Texas native, married, with three children. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was assigned to HMX-1 Squadron (Marine One), Quantico, Virginia, from 1984 through 1988. He obtained a B.S. in Business Management from Park University and a J.D. (Law) from St. Mary’s University, before entering the FBI as a Special Agent in 1995. After serving two and one-half years as a Supervisory Special Agent in the Financial Crimes Section at FBIHQ, Washington, D.C., Mr. Davis was assigned to the Houston Division in 2005. From 2007-2010, Mr. Davis was appointed as a Special Assistant United States Attorney (SAUSA) in the Southern District of Texas and prosecuted theft of trade secret, intellectual property, and cyber intrusion cases. He is currently the Strategic Partnership Coordinator for the FBI, Houston Division.

Special Agent/InfraGard Coordinator Angela Haun entered on duty with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in March 1998. Agent Haun has served in the Chicago Division, the Office of Congressional Affairs and the Cyber Division at FBI Headquarters, and the Houston Division. Agent Haun has received numerous awards for her work at the FBI, including the Director’s Award for Outstanding Criminal Investigation. In September 2013, Agent Haun received the award for “InfraGard Coordinator of the Year” from the InfraGard National Members Alliance.

Beginning at 1 p.m., the lecture will first show the FBI film, "The Company Man: Protecting America’s Secrets", which depicts a trade secrets case recently investigated by the FBI. A group discussion led by Special Agent Davis will be held after the film.

A presentation by Special Agent Angela Haun will follow, titled "The Cyber Threat Landscape." Special Agent Angela Haun will share the current trends in cyber threats, best practices for prevention and mitigation, and information sharing opportunities.
